A little bit about us

Our vision

Our work connects and enriches every Australian community, underpins our economy and society, and empowers our regions. We provide policy advice and deliver programs, projects and services in the infrastructure, transport, communications, sport and arts sectors, supporting our regions, cities and territories.

Our purpose

We work with our partners to enable connected, productive, safe, sustainable, active and culturally vibrant communities in our cities, regions and territories to improve the lives of all Australians.

This includes planning for the global digital economy, creating the transport and telecommunications systems of tomorrow and building a thriving and inclusive sport sector. We also help empower our regional communities, promote our thriving arts sector and protect and celebrate the culture, heritage and languages of First Nations people.

Our priorities

  • Transport connectivity—Supporting an efficient, sustainable, competitive, accessible, safe and secure transport system for all transport users through infrastructure investment, regulation and safety investigations.

  • Regional development—Strengthening the sustainability, capacity and diversity of Australia's cities and regions including northern Australia, through facilitating local partnerships between all levels of government and local communities; investment in infrastructure and measures that stimulate economic growth; and providing grants and financial assistance.

  • Territories—Supporting good governance and service delivery in the Australian territories.

  • Sport—Building a thriving sport system to support healthy, active, connected communities and harnessing the once-in-a-generation opportunity of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games to bring social and economic benefits to Australia.

  • Communications connectivity—Promoting an innovative and competitive communications sector so all Australians can realise the full potential of digital technologies and communications services.

  • Creativity and culture—Promoting participation in, and access to, Australia's arts and culture through developing and supporting cultural expression.

We promote a culture that is reliable and responsive, kind, respectful and collaborative and embeds integrity and intellectual curiosity in everything we do.

We offer support to our staff through our strong commitment to learning and development, fostering professional opportunities and diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
