About the Role

Reporting to the Deputy Head of Operations this position is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and overall safety and compliance of the Perth Terminal and the National Jet Express Quarantine Management Plan (QMP). The Terminal Duty Manager is first and foremost a team lead including directing staff, coordinating workflow, and undertaking administrative duties including rosters, leave coverage, reporting, staff training and compliance duties. You will also need to be capable of interpreting client’s Quarantine Management System and associated standards / procedures and take responsibility for their documentation and application within the National Jet Express operation. 
 

The responsibilities of the Terminal Duty Manager will include but not limited to:

Safety

• Hold, promote and demonstrate safety as a core value and lead in driving the organisation toward its vision of Zero Harm and an incident / injury free environment through active support of and participation in, all safety programs
• Actively support and promote the organisation’s Safety Management System by ensuring staff comply with the Safety Management System processes and procedures, providing appropriate direction and resources and by monitoring safety activities and performance
• Respond accordingly to any safety concerns raised by direct reports or relevant to the quarantine and cargo functions.
• Maintain awareness of Aviation Safety, Emergency and OHS requirements for self, team, and customers
   

Operations

• Oversight of operational activity at NJE terminal to ensure that customer service needs for NJE are met in accordance with Company standards and objectives. 
• Overall coordination of all contracted Aviation Services leading up to departure, delivery, arrival, and post flight
• Create and maintain all assigned Manuals in an up-to-date status
• Provide assistance to OCC on any consequential impact to schedule
• Client Liaison in ensuring the client administration and Airport Managers are kept up to date with scenarios
• Work with the Deputy Head of Operations to ensure that Ground Handling Agents performs in line with Service Delivery and that Aircraft are despatched in a timely and efficient manner
• Review and implement strategies to maximise aircraft performance at Perth and outports
• Assist the Deputy Head of Operations with daily operational requirements including implementing new client procedures
• Assist in start-up operations including develop and provision of procedure manuals and training
• Promptly follow up queries and complaints
• General administration as required, such as invoice reconciliation, answering/responding to public enquiries, baggage claims, operational data reconciliation.

Staff Management

• Develop and distribute rosters 
• Liaise with the Engineering department, Flight Operations Administrator and Senior Base Flight Attendant on day-to-day operational matters as required
• Oversee the Service Delivery Team being the first point of contact for significant disruptions, working with the Operations Control Centre (OCC) and client administration for solutions

• Terminal, Quarantine, Freight & Ramp Employees
   

Essential and/or Desirable Skills and Qualifications

• Dangerous Goods Acceptance or the ability to attain
• Sound understanding of current quarantine and environmental regulations and best practice 
• Experience in training program development and delivery 
• Some experience in an aviation or logistics setting would be highly regarded
• Computer competency in Avantik as well as Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel
• Have experience in the management or supervision of airport operations, load control, Dangerous Goods, and training for high-capacity turbo prop and passenger jet operations. 
• Aviation training experience
• Aircraft load and trim experience
• Knowledge of aerodrome operations (both ramp and customer service)
• Leadership and interpersonal skills commensurate with the position
• Ability to hold an ASIC
