  • Location: Canberra (Hybrid Work – 2 days in the office)

  • Role Type: Permanent  Full Time

Exciting opportunity for a State Territory Manager to lead our presence in Canberra and drive exceptional member engagement across the region.

About the Role

We’re seeking a dynamic and relationship-driven State Territory Manager to lead our presence in Canberra and drive exceptional member engagement across the region.

Reporting to the Regional Head, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the divisional office, leading a small team of 2 direct reports (Member Services & Events), and working closely with your Divisional Council and wider stakeholder network.

This is a high-impact role where you’ll shape and execute data-driven, member-centric engagement strategies, enhance the member experience, and contribute to membership growth, retention, and satisfaction.

A critical element of this role is external engagement - you will actively represent the organisation within the local business and professional community, building our brand presence, developing sponsorship opportunities, and fostering strong partnerships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead local operations and ensure the seamless delivery of member services

  • Develop and execute member engagement and retention strategies aligned with regional priorities

  • Drive external engagement, building relationships across the local business community, government, and industry

  • Identify and develop sponsorship opportunities and strategic partnerships

  • Lead and manage relationships with key external bodies and associations (e.g. AICD, ACS, and other professional organisations)

  • Partner with Relationship Managers to drive employer and tertiary engagement initiatives that attract new members

  • Build strong relationships with Divisional Council, members, volunteers, and stakeholders

  • Oversee the delivery of events and initiatives that enhance member participation and value

  • Lead, coach, and develop a small high-performing team

  • Use data and insights to inform decision-making and improve outcomes

About You:

You’re an experienced leader with a passion for member engagement, stakeholder management, and building strong external networks. You bring a balance of strategic thinking, commercial awareness, and hands-on delivery.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience leading teams in a membership, stakeholder, or customer engagement environment

  • Demonstrated success in external engagement, including building relationships with business communities and professional bodies

  • Experience developing partnerships, sponsorships, or collaborative initiatives

  • Strong ability to influence, negotiate and represent an organisation externally

  • Demonstrated success in motivating, coaching, and developing team members

  • Experience delivering membership engagement and retention strategies

  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data to inform decisions

  • Experience planning and delivering events that drive participation and engagement

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to deliver persuasive presentations and influence stakeholders
