About the Role

The Threat Intelligence function plays a critical role in protecting ANZ by identifying, understanding and tracking cyber threats relevant to the organisation, its customers, systems, data and critical third parties. As a Threat Intelligence Analyst, you'll provide a threat-informed view of the cyber landscape and translate intelligence into practical actions that strengthen ANZ's prevention, detection, investigation and response capabilities.

What will your day look like?

As a Threat Intelligence Analyst, you will:

• Research, analyse and profile threat actors relevant to ANZ, including their motivations, capabilities, infrastructure, targeting patterns and techniques.


• Monitor emerging threats, cyber campaigns, vulnerabilities and adversary activity that could impact ANZ and its customers.


• Produce high-quality strategic, operational and tactical intelligence products for technical and non-technical stakeholders.


• Translate threat intelligence into actionable recommendations that enhance ANZ's cyber security posture and inform risk-based decision-making.


• Collaborate with Security Operations, Detection Engineering, Threat Hunting, Red Team, Vulnerability Management and Incident Response teams to operationalise intelligence.


• Enrich security incidents and investigations with intelligence context, including actor intent, behavioural patterns and likely next steps.


• Support proactive threat hunting activities using adversary tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) and behavioural analytics.


• Help identify critical vulnerabilities and provide threat context to support prioritisation and remediation efforts.


• Develop metrics, reporting and situational awareness products that communicate the current threat landscape and its relevance to ANZ.


• Contribute to the ongoing maturity of ANZ's Threat Intelligence capability through process improvement, automation and development of playbooks and standards. 

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:

• Demonstrated experience in Cyber Threat Intelligence, Threat Hunting or a related cyber security discipline.


• Strong understanding of threat actors, adversary behaviours and frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.


• Experience collecting, analysing and interpreting intelligence from multiple sources including commercial feeds, open-source intelligence, internal telemetry and incident data.


• Knowledge of security operations, incident response, detection engineering and threat hunting methodologies.


• Familiarity with SIEM, EDR, NDR and Threat Intelligence platforms.


• Strong understanding of network technologies, cloud security, identity security and common attack techniques such as phishing, malware, credential abuse and lateral movement.


• Excellent analytical, research, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.


• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to both technical and non-technical audiences.


• Ability to work effectively during incidents and high-pressure situations while maintaining attention to detail and sound judgement.

Highly regarded:

• Experience within financial services or other complex enterprise environments.


• Threat intelligence or cyber security certifications such as GCTI, GCIA, CTIA or equivalent.


• Experience with Python or other scripting languages for automation and data enrichment.


• Experience supporting threat modelling, purple team exercises, breach and attack simulation activities or cyber incident investigations.
