Trades Assistant / Yard Hand - Get Hired Fast

A fantastic opportunity exists for a Trades Assistant (TA's) / Yard Hand to develop their career with Chadwick Forklifts. We have a position vacant in our BRAESIDE site.

The role will involve assisting the workshop technicians in the repair and upkeep of rental and retail forklifts and in maintaining the smooth flow of the workshop by undertaking daily routine tasks as directed. You will primarily be workshop based and over a period of time gain experience in servicing/and or assisting in the service of a wide variety of forklifts. TA’s will also gain experience in trouble shooting, diagnosing and safe working practices on all forklifts. The TA will also learn how to maintain a safe and clean workshop.

• Primary focus on red tag receipt of returned forklifts (as they arrive in real time) and recording diesel, customer damage, LPG and attachment returns (as they arrive in real time)
• Primary focus on ensuring all forklift units on hire are placed outside correctly and accurately with all attachments, LPG bottles etc (i.e. full ownership and responsibility of the workshop rentals board)
• LPG bottle maintenance for rentals
• Oil / Lubricant maintenance for service technicians
• Diesel maintenance for rentals
• Washing units / conducting basic PMP’s on returned units and maintain appropriate service records
• Gaining experience in performing more complex forklift services over time
• Observing all requests and undertakings as assigned by the monitoring supervisor and demonstrating flexibility and reliability/consistency with such requests
• Learn how to work in the workshop as appropriate and maintaining the workshop in a clean and tidy state (as found)
• Assist with inductions/safe work practices/workshop protocols for any new workshop staff and/or technicians
