Opportunity:

• Role: Permanent Part Time

• Work Pattern: Working 3 days per week 8:30am – 4.36pm (22.8 hours per week) with a view to increase as work volume increases. Ideally Tues-Thur initially with some flexibility.

• Location: Shifts to commence and finish at Dandenong (however will be required to travel between sites, providing participant transport)

About us

The Bridge Incorporated is a progressive and innovative community based organisation that provides a variety of support services to individuals with disability as well as young people from disadvantaged backgrounds from various locations across the south-east and north of Melbourne.

The Bridge operates a Garden and Property Maintenance Crew that has a diverse workforce which focuses on providing employment supports for people with a disability.

What does the Training and Support Officer do?

Due to growth and the expansion of services offered by The Bridge Employment, we are seeking to appoint a Training and Support Officer – Team Leader to oversee a new service offering which will provide individually tailored training, supervision and direction to Supported Employees who will work within the newly established Garden and Property Maintenance Crew. This role will ensure that work tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. The position involves providing Supported Employees with on-the-job training to support their journey in achieving their employment goals. You will support your Work Crew to conduct garden and property maintenance responsibilities and tasks across required sites.

As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for the operations of the Work Crew, including rostering, ordering/stocking equipment, developing work plans and conducting safety and work training. You will be responsible for driving the Garden and Property Maintenance Crew between required locations. Experience driving an 8 seater van or people mover is strongly desired.

To be successful in this role, you will:

• Possess a current and valid full Australian Driver’s license.

• Have previous experience in a leadership role or managing small teams.

• Be an effective communicator and have well developed oral and written skills.

• Be able to identify Supported Employee’s strengths and work with them to improve their capability within their role.

• Be able to perform manual tasks of a repetitive nature and work duties involving lifting and standing for long periods.

• Demonstrated experience in garden and property maintenance.

• A relevant certificate/trade qualification (gardening, plumbing, carpentry, cabinet making or maintenance).

• Have good time management, computer and administration skills.

• Have lived disability experience and/or possess a qualification in disability or community services (highly preferred).
