Treasury Management Accountant

Overview:
Alchemy Recruitment Consulting is working with local government to secure a Treasury Management Accountant for this 6-month opportunity. The position is also responsible for establishing and managing Council’s Treasury Management function, ensuring alignment with the Corporate Plan to meet financial objectives. Provide strategic financial guidance to optimise cash management, minimise costs, manage risks, and support informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Periodic forecasting and reporting of Council’s cash position and identify impacts on Council’s long term financial forecast.
• Monitor and identify policy gaps and drive policy change for improved outcomes on Program matters
• Ability to interpret analytical data in relation to forecasting cash flows and performing scenario analysis in relation to investment and borrowing.
• Management of Council’s debt portfolio providing expert advice to Finance Manager, the Executive Leadership Team, and Council.

Essential Requirements:

• A degree qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or related discipline is mandatory and Postgraduate qualifications in Finance, Treasury, or Financial Risk Management will be highly regarded
• Significant experience in a treasury or senior finance role, preferably within the public sector or large organisation.
• Experience in developing and managing cash flow forecasts, investment portfolios, and debt management strategies.
• Proven ability to produce complex reports, correspondence and briefing material for senior and executive management, and elected officials, with the knowledge and capability to convey complex issues in layman’s terms.
