Job Description - Trust Accountant

Job Title

Trust Accountant

Job Description Summary

As a Trust Accountant, you will be responsible for the financial control, reporting, and regulatory compliance of trust accounts across multiple Australian states. This role is central to ensuring that all trust‑related transactions, reconciliations, and reporting obligations are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with state‑based legislation.

You’ll work closely with internal teams, external auditors, regulators, and trust account licensees to maintain the highest standards of compliance and financial integrity.

Job Description

Australian Citizenship is mandatory due to client and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage trust account transactions daily using JDE, MRI & Multi‑Array

  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for Licensee approval

  • Maintain monthly KPI trackers and compliance documentation

  • Process trust receipts, payments, and transfers

  • Coordinate and manage annual trust account audits, liaising with auditors, regulators, and internal stakeholders

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and produce high‑quality financial outputs

  • Prepare and submit regulatory compliance reporting

  • Support ad hoc finance activities and participate in improvement projects

Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in Trust Accounting or a similar role

  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for Property Agents and Trust Accounts

  • Experience across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Financial Reporting

  • Exposure to JDE and Blackline (advantageous)

  • High proficiency in MS Excel and strong general IT capability

  • Experience working with outsourced providers (highly desirable)

  • Background in process ownership, change management, or continuous improvement is beneficial

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline
