Travel: Bus In / Bus Out from Perth – approximately 3.5 hours

About the Company

Our client is an established underground gold mining operation in Western Australia seeking experienced Underground Shift Supervisors to join its site-based operations team.

This is a long-term opportunity for experienced underground mining leaders who can take ownership of their shift, lead crews safely and effectively, and contribute to strong production and operational performance.

The successful candidates will work directly for the mine and will have the flexibility to choose between a 2/1 or 2/2 roster.

About the Role

The Underground Shift Supervisor will be responsible for the safe and effective supervision of underground mining activities during each shift.

This is a hands-on leadership position requiring an experienced underground supervisor who can coordinate crews, maintain safe working practices, support production requirements and ensure underground activities are completed in accordance with mine plans, procedures and statutory requirements.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide strong frontline leadership, communicate effectively with underground crews and management, and maintain high standards of safety, production and team performance.

Key Responsibilities

Underground Operations & Production

Supervise and coordinate underground mining activities throughout the shift.

Ensure shift activities are completed safely and in accordance with operational and production requirements.

Coordinate underground crews, equipment and work areas to support efficient shift performance.

Monitor progress against shift priorities and production requirements.

Identify operational issues that may affect safety or production and escalate or address these as appropriate.

Conduct effective shift handovers and communicate relevant operational information to incoming supervisors and management.

Work closely with other operational and maintenance personnel to minimise delays and maintain productive underground operations.

Leadership & Crew Management

Provide clear leadership and direction to underground mining crews.

Allocate personnel and resources according to shift priorities and operational requirements.

Conduct pre-start meetings, toolbox discussions and shift briefings as required.

Monitor crew performance and provide coaching, guidance and support where required.

Promote accountability, teamwork and professional standards across the underground workforce.

Maintain clear and effective communication between crews, supervisors and site management.

Safety & Compliance

Maintain a strong focus on safety across all underground activities.

Ensure personnel comply with site safety procedures, underground mining requirements and relevant statutory obligations.

Identify hazards and ensure appropriate controls are implemented before work proceeds.

Participate in workplace inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations where required.

Ensure underground work areas and activities are maintained to the required safety standards.

Lead by example and actively promote a positive safety culture within the underground team.

Qualifications & Experience

Demonstrated experience working in underground mining operations.

Previous experience as an Underground Shift Supervisor, Underground Supervisor or similar frontline underground leadership position.

Underground Supervisor Certificate required.

Proven experience supervising and managing underground mining crews.

Strong understanding of underground mining safety, production and operational requirements.

Demonstrated ability to take ownership of a shift and manage day-to-day underground activities.

A reliable and stable employment history is highly regarded.

Current Australian driver's licence preferred.

Ability to satisfy site medical, drug and alcohol and other pre-employment requirements.
