Job Description

Drive for Life is a driver training and mentoring program that equips young people who are overcoming adversity, to obtain their drivers license. The program removes the barriers and provides a pathway towards positive role models, developing independent life skills and improving employment prospects.

We are looking for volunteers to help young people get through the licensing process - both theory and practical. The Volunteer Driving Mentor will be required to sit in the car with program participants, assist in logging necessary hours and reinforce safe driving skills. (Salvation Army vehicles will be used - personal cars will not be needed).

This is as much about engaging both young people and mentors in their community as it is about licensing; we know that feeling part of a community assists with building a sense of belonging, improved mental health, developing pro-social behaviours and connecting to a shared social responsibility.

Driving, mentoring, training case work or similar experiences are highly regarded for the role.

Opportunities available in Stafford, Queensland.

Mandatory Requirements of the Role
- Complete The Salvation Army's volunteer registration, induction modules and any other training as required
- Criminal History Check (Police Check) and WWCC (QLD Blue Card) are required for the role
-  Applicants must have a valid drivers license and a good driving history

-  Applicants must provide 2 references as it is a mandatory requirement for any role that works with persons under 18 years.

Time Commitment
- Minimum 2 hour commitment a week (flexible) on an ongoing basis of at least 3 months.
- Please advise your availability with your expression of interest

A role profile for this position is available upon request and will also be provided to the successful applicant during the interview process.

We encourage you to attach your resume so that we can get to know you a little better.

To find out more, please express your interest and availability.

In the spirit of reconciliation, The Salvation Army’s Drive for Life acknowledges the Traditional Owners of their land, specifically the Jagera and Turrbal Peoples and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their elders past, present and emerging.
