Veterinary Nurse - Immediate Start

Are you a qualified veterinary nurse with a minimum 2 years experience with plenty of initiative wanting to take your career to the next level?

We are seeking a full time Veterinary Nurse with a minimum of 2 years of full-time experience to work at our well-equipped veterinary hospital in Weston Creek (Canberra). We work closely with our clients to optimise every animal’s health outcomes & take pride in offering first-class veterinary services.

About us

Weston Creek Veterinary Hospital is a large, purpose built veterinary hospital with ASAV Accreditation, with a large friendly and professional team of veterinarians, vet nurses and dedicated receptionists, and we have all the usual toys, digital xray (Dental included), In house lab services, ultrasound etc.

The Role

The days are varied and interesting covering a range of small animal veterinary nursing

• collecting blood, operating idexx in house lab tests and maintaining the equipment,

• preparing patients for surgery and managing surgical equipment,

• assisting with induction and monitoring of anaesthesia,

• iv catheter placement.

• Nurse consultations for admissions and discharges as well as triage consultations.

• assisting veterinarians with xrays,

• doing dental treatments.

• Caring for hospital in-patients

There are no afterhours or on call shifts, we work on a rotating roster Monday to Friday plus 1 in 4 Saturdays.

About you

Necessary qualities the successful Veterinary Nurse will need to possess:

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.

• Certificate IV or higher Veterinary Nursing qualification.

• Excellent communication skills and presentation

• Warm and Friendly personality with a professional and positive ‘can do’ attitude

• Organised, motivated and efficient with an attention to detail

• The ability to work well and contribute within a team

• Caring & compassionate

Our location

We are located in Weston Creek an easy half hour drive from anywhere in Canberra, with free parking onsite. There’s local shops and cafes in walking distance of the hospital and a neighbourhood oval right next door.
