Job Description - WHS Manager - Growth-Minded Organization

Rhomberg Sersa Australia (RSA) are market leaders in complex rail maintenance and construction solutions.  As the Australian operating division of the Austrian-based Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group (RSRG). RSA are industry specialists backed by European innovation and local expertise.

Based at our Mayfield West Office, this highly autonomous role requires extensive experience and strong working relationships with the Senior Management Team, Business Unit Leads and key support services teams to effectively manage the business’ safety and compliance requirements.  

The successful WHS Manager would be responsible for the following:

  • Providing strong leadership and fostering a positive culture within the organisation around zero harm, compliance, and continual improvement,
  • Drive process improvements throughout the business by way of integrated use of business systems, including RSA Hub for HSEQ for workflows and collaboration, RIW and IMS Structure,
  • Foster a positive culture by undertaking safety observations and partnering with operational unit leaders for safety and quality outcomes,
  • Support Business Unit Leaders and Project Managers to understand and meet their WHS obligations by implementing our HSEQ framework, including policy and procedures,
  • Actively manage the IMS systems for Risk, Safety, Environmental and Quality Management in accordance with ISO-Standards, Regulatory Requirements and Rhomberg Group Standards including maintenance, reporting and support,
  • Facilitate and lead the HSEQ annual management and IMS review process in line with ISO and RSRG requirements,
  • Incident Management,
  • Compliance Management,
  • Accreditation Management in co-ordination with the Systems Manager,
  • Maintain external vigilance of standard and regulatory changes affecting business and develop the required changes.

About you:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in an engineering or construction environment,
  • Certificate IV in WHS/HSEQ or Equivalent,
  • Extensive understanding of integrated safety management systems, risk management, quality management and their application to railway operations,
  • Demonstrated experience in the interpretation and administration of legislation,
  • Sound knowledge of rail safety requirements and regulations (Desirable),
  • Extensive experience in managing WHS/HSEQ requirements on rail infrastructure construction, renewals, and maintenance projects,
  • Strong initiative, time management, high organisational skills, and ability to work to deadlines,
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively consult, liaise and negotiate with internal and external customers and to facilitate their cooperation and support to achieve desired outcomes,
  • High level of computer literacy,
  • Experience in management of integrated management system including ISO 9001/ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
