Works Engineering Officer 

Come and work as a vital member of our Works team here at Mareeba Shire Council, located within an easy one-hour drive from Cairns offering a regional lifestyle with all its benefits in relatively close proximity to Cairns. 

The Role: 

Our Works Engineering Officer provides support to the Manager Works. Responsibilities include areas such as risk management, strategic planning, reporting functions, asset management, technical advice and program support for efficient management within Council’s Works area. 

What we are looking for:

• You will be familiar with road and drainage construction and maintenance principles and be able to utilise this knowledge to develop solutions and cost estimates that comply with industry standards and best practice
• You will have a demonstrated understanding of asset management, maintenance management, risk management, quality assurance and traffic management practices for civil infrastructure
• You will have interpersonal and negotiation skills that allow you to organise and prioritise work, resolve conflict when needed, meet deadlines and deliver Council objectives
• You will have high-level written and verbal communication skills along with exceptional customer service and stakeholder management skills
• You will have sound computer literacy with the ability to utilise data bases and Microsoft Office applications as well as engineering and asset management software and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
