St John of God Horizon House provides safe, stable accommodation and tailored support for young people aged 16 to 22 years who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Western Australia and Victoria.
At Horizon House, we provide strengths-based, trauma-informed care that recognises each young person’s unique experiences, abilities and goals. Our role is not to replace parents or guardians, but to support young people to develop the skills, confidence and connections they need to move forward independently.
About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Youth Worker to join our Horizon House team in Geraldton in a permanent part-time role working 38 hours per fortnight.
In this rewarding role, you will support young people within a residential care environment, helping them develop the skills, confidence and resilience needed to live independently. Working closely with the Support Coordinator, you will provide day-to-day support, advocacy and guidance while delivering tailored Independent Living Skills programs that meet the unique needs of each resident.
The role works to a fixed fortnightly roster and includes sleep shifts, split shifts, weekends and Public Holidays as required by the roster. Flexibility and availability to work all rostered shifts are essential. Applicable shift, weekend and public holiday penalty rates apply.
The Position
You will have a sound understanding of the special needs of adolescents and trauma-informed care, together with recent experience working with at-risk young people, extensive experience in an area related to youth work and knowledge of the Privacy Legislation and Occupational, Health & Safety Act Regulations.
Successful applicants will hold a Certificate IV in Youth Work or similar, State’s Drivers Licence, First Aid Certificate and Working with Children Card.
Above all, patient care will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.
We can offer you
All applicants are asked to submit a CV and covering letter (of no more than one (1) page) demonstrating how you meet the above position requirements.
