We are a committed team dedicated to providing tailored care and guidance to young individuals with complex needs, particularly those navigating challenges associated with ASD, ADHD, Schizophrenia, Self Harm, Complex Behaviours such as Verbal and Physical Aggression and Intellectual Impairments.🩵
⭐️About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate team to support 2 of our participants in Caboolture and Glass House Mountain. As a Complex Youth/ Support Worker, you will be providing 2:1 support to a young male and female with significant needs. Your role will involve:
- **Behaviour Management:** Implementing strategies to manage extreme behaviours, including verbal and physical aggression.
- **Restrictive Practices:** Utilising five types of restrictive practices in accordance with approved guidelines and ethical standards, including the following:
- Restricted access (restriction to sharps)
- Chemical
- Physical
- Seclusion
- Mechanical
- **Daily Living Support:** Assisting with daily living activities, personal care, and skill development to promote independence.
- **Safety and Well-being:** Ensuring the safety and well-being of the individual at all times.
- **Team Collaboration:** Working closely with other support staff, healthcare professionals, and family members to provide consistent and effective care.
⭐️Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support in accordance with the individual's care plan.
- Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using approved techniques.
- Implement and monitor restrictive practices as required.
- Assist with personal care tasks.
- Facilitate participation in community activities and social interactions.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of support provided and incidents occurred.
- Communicate effectively with the individual, their family, and the support team.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
⭐️Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience in a similar role, particularly with individuals exhibiting challenging behaviours.
- Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and associated behaviours.
- Understanding of restrictive practices and their ethical implementation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
- Relevant qualifications in Disability Support, Community Services, or a related field.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Current Blue Card & NDIS Worker Screening Check
