About the role

As a Collection Agent, you will be responsible for contacting individuals and with overdue accounts to collect outstanding debts. You will utilise communication skills, negotiation techniques, and a firm understanding of debt collection laws to recover payments and maintain positive relationships with clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contacting customers via phone, email, or mail to discuss overdue accounts and negotiate payment plans.
• Using effective negotiation techniques to reach mutually beneficial agreements for debt repayment.
• Providing courteous and professional assistance to customers while maintaining a firm stance on the collection process.
• Addressing and resolving any issues or disputes related to outstanding debts in a timely and efficient manner.
• Accurately documenting communication and payment arrangements with customers.
• Collaborating with colleagues in the collections department and other departments to optimise collection strategies and achieve team goals.

Required skills:

• Experience in Customer Service, Finance or Sales is preferred.
• Good time management, organisational and prioritisation skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Able to handle high pressure environments, remaining calm, courteous and methodical while demonstrating empathy to the customer as well as a determined and focused results orientation
• A team player, pitching in to help colleagues in a fast-paced environment
