Job Description - National Business Development Manager

SMA Australia are seeking an experienced National Business Development Manager - C&I Segment , located in Sydney, with a good knowledge of the Australian Solar PV industry. The position is hybrid ie, a mix of working from home and working at our North Sydney office.

About the role:

The National Business Development Manager for the C&I segment (NBDM) manages critical client relationships and facilitates the sales process for Commercial and Industrial customers in Australia.

This role is responsible for C&I Business development as well as EPC relationship development. Commercial project identification would include multi property groups ie Coles, Woolworths, Stocklands etc. Imperative is the VPP commercial opportunity development. This role will manage partners in national C&I segment, whilst BDMs will be supporting these customers in the regions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Responsible for sales and promotion of all SMA products with a focus upon residential, commercial and OG&S solutions.
  • Develops long lasting relationships by interacting and communicating with customers on a regular basis, while providing professional sales and marketing support.
  • Maintain and grow SMA market share by proactively pursuing opportunities and supporting existing sales and marketing channels.
  • Develop and maintain a customer data base via Salesforce and facilitate ongoing communication at all levels with stake holders.
  • Actively participate in all sales and marketing activities.
  • Provide timely and accurate market and competitor intelligence.
  • Work closely and communicate with all members of the sales team to maximise sales opportunities.
  • Participate in trade shows and conferences.
  • Conduct with the support of the TSS function installer training, sales training and other market development programs.
  • Develop direct relationships with approved large C&I customers.
  • Achievement of all Sales revenue and volume targets as determined by Senior management.
  • Development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of a key stakeholder/customer call cycle.
  • Activity recording/reporting visa salesforce.
  • Development of the market customer database with regular revision and updating of critical customer contact records (Salesforce).
  • Commercial project reporting and forecasting via Salesforce channel.
  • Assist National BDM in monthly forecasting, activity planning and annual budget preparation.
  • Create monthly reports to sales leadership and assist with the Quarterly Business Review process.

About You: You will

  • 3 years’ experience in selling technical based products and industry leading marketing solutions.
  • A good knowledge of the Australian Solar PV industry would an advantage.
  • Must be highly customer and goal orientated, an effective communicator and have a successful history in business development.
  • Must have excellent presentation and negotiation skills
  • The ability to turn challenges into a positive outcome in a quickly changing market environment.
  • Flexible business approach, shows themselves as an active team player in a dynamic team
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM is beneficial, though not essential
  • Proficient user of MS Suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience in successfully working with geographically dispersed sales teams
  • Willingness to undertake regular interstate travel and occasional international travel as required
