Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Support Engineer to provide technical assistance and support to our clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and excellent communication skills to effectively troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to customer technical queries. Solve customer problems and analyse customer service needs for communication to the Export & Project Engineering Manager and other departments.
- Provide internal technical support for sales staff and other departments.
- Manage the technical content of the Company’s website.
- Maintain system data and technical library with up-to-date technical information.
- Liaise with sales staff to maintain awareness of developments and changes to product range and specifications.
- Conduct laboratory and bench testing, application simulations and other similar projects for materials produced by the company and its competitors to provide application-engineering solutions to customers.
- Participate in the development of new products or product improvements through involvement in various R&D projects.
- Assist with product costing, estimation and tender/contract preparation and documentation.
- Maintain knowledge of both company sealing materials and competitor products.
- Maintain knowledge of industry standards and specifications for company products and services.
- Expand research and development for company products.
- Maintain current knowledge of the company’s products, services and business systems.
- Progress product testing to support R&D and product compliance to industry/ internal standards.
- Develop technical knowledge across Company.
- Support the Projects Department by ensuring overarching documentation control governance and standards are adhered to so as to meet the project and client service level agreements.
- Ensuring all controlled documents are formatted, numbered, revision controlled and managed in accordance with the relevant client standards and conventions.
- Maintain system data and document control library with up-to-date processes and procedures.
- Take part in client kick off and documentation meetings so as to learn project specific documentation and quality assurance requirements.
- Develop standardised project documentation database to streamline project document submission process.
- Liaise with QA/QC, production and warehouse functions to ensure in-house traceability and certification is robust and documented.
- Maintain controlled hardcopy of final Manufactures Data Record (MDR).
- Ensure compliance with company’s Health, Safety & Environmental policies and legislative requirements.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma or degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Minimum 1 year’s’ experience in a technical role or technical support function.
- Commercially astute with aptitude for working with computer systems and quickly developing product knowledge.
- Strong technical knowledge of company products and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of piping, flange, fittings and process systems.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate (verbal and written) with people of all levels and different cultural backgrounds.
- Strong organisational, time management and planning skills with the ability to work unsupervised.
- Strong knowledge and commitment to safety.
- Intermediate IT skills - Microsoft Office Suite and Computer Aided Design (CAD) software
- Ability to analyse and interpret information.
