THE ROLE
Advisor - Aboriginal Partnerships and Practice, Aboriginal Self-determination and Outcomes Division contributes significantly to the strategic directions of the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) by providing earlier and more connected support, as well as local solutions. The primary objective of this position is to support the team that is working to enhance the well-being of Aboriginal individuals and communities by supporting engagement strategies for social and economic participation. By doing so, the position aims to create opportunities for individuals and families to build better lives and achieve their potential by participating in the community and economy.
In addition to contributing to the delivery and implementation of vital projects and initiatives in collaboration with community, inter-sectoral, and whole-of-government stakeholders and staff, this role focuses on supporting continuous service monitoring, service delivery models, and innovative approaches to achieving better Aboriginal, community, and social welfare outcomes. The role will support partnerships with the Aboriginal community, Aboriginal agencies, and the broader sector to ensure self-determined results for local communities. This involves supporting a team implementing place-based approaches, considering the unique characteristics and interactions of people and places to design and implement interventions and investments in a given location or community.
This position will play a critical role in supporting the development of community engagement strategies that align with the broader goal of self-determination. By doing so, the Advisor will help to create opportunities for Aboriginal individuals and communities to take control of their lives and make decisions that benefit them.
