Job Description - Graduate Electrical Engineer

About Whitehaven Coal

Whitehaven Coal dominates Australia's only emerging high-quality coal basin. The company exports high-quality thermal and metallurgical coal from Australia, thus supporting and sustaining regional communities. Whitehaven Coal's focus on capital investment and workforce presence lies in North West NSW, catering to the strong and growing demand for their product in developed and emerging economies in Asia, particularly for use in high-efficiency, low-emissions coal-fired power stations.

Your role

Whitehaven Coal offers varied experiences as new hires gain a comprehensive understanding of mine operations. The first year is spent in the field, working with various machinery across both the underground mine and open-cut sections of the business.

Training, development & rotations

During your time in the Whitehaven Coal Graduate Program, you’ll receive coaching and guidance from a senior leader while gaining practical skills and training from on-the-job learning experiences and formal development sessions.  The two-year rotational program will expose you to different sites and areas of the business, setting you up for success once you settle into your team after the Program.

The Graduate Program rotations are residentially based in the Gunnedah and Narrabri regions in NSW and their key operational sites include:

  • Maules Creek Open-Cut
  • Narrabri Underground
