Job Description - Head of education

The Position

Scotch College has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate Head of Inclusive Education (Years 6 to 12) to lead our exceptional team in providing best practice inclusive services to students in our Middle and Senior Schools. As the Head of Inclusive Education (Years 6 to12), you will be a key leader at our College, and will play a crucial role in ensuring every student at Scotch can thrive academically and socially.

Your role will involve overseeing academic support and inclusion services for students across Middle and Senior Schools whilst liaising extensively with our Junior School Inclusion team. Collaborating with all relevant stakeholders, the role necessitates both outstanding communication skills, and an empathetic and patient leadership style.

You will contribute to the College’s strategic priorities, developing a longer term vision that ensures an optimal level of academic support and care for our students.

The successful candidate will be an exceptional individual, a leader in this field and demonstrate the following:

  • Appropriate educational qualifications with a Master of Education and/or further training to support students with learning difficulties and learning disabilities highly desirable.
  • Proven experience and success in leading a team of educators in an inclusive educational context.
  • Proven ability to use appropriate data to successfully implement strategies to assist students to achieve academic success.
  • Demonstrated use and awareness of the potential for Integrated Learning Technology to improve teaching, learning and assessment outcomes for all students.
  • Clear understanding of relevant legislation and experience of managing disability application/funding processes.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and facilitation skills with the ability to develop and maintain constructive working relationships with all stakeholders including school leaders, teachers, education assistants, school psychologists and relevant external agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to embrace Scotch College Values of Service, Integrity & Stewardship underpinned by the values of the Uniting Church in Australia (UCA); in particular the UCA Charter of Education.

This is a full-time ongoing position commencing in Term 3, 2024.

The successful candidate will be required to provide evidence of a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and registration with the Teacher Registration Board of WA (TRBWA).
