Job Description - Occupational Therapist

Want to work in a team that really cares?! This opportunity supports you to work within a multidisciplinary team, assisting children and their families in creating a significant impact on individuals with developmental conditions and disabilities.

You will join an established team and receive supervision from our Senior Occupational Therapist with over 40 years’ experience.

About us

CoordiKids was established in 2013 as a multidisciplinary paediatric occupational practice working within Southeast Queensland, including Gold Coast, Logan and South Brisbane. We opened our centres in 2023 to serve our clients, have educational and research options for a team of amazing therapists. We appreciate how difficult it can be for families to fit in multiple therapies appointments along with having adequate funding to provide ongoing support. As a result, CoordiKids offers a unique opportunity of offering both hands on therapy and a range of online video exercises for families, community groups and schools to increase accessibility to support and to improve the overall functioning childhood developmental and disability conditions such as ASD and ADHD.

CoordiKids also sees the value to supporting individuals of all ages and of all walks of life, but understands they are experts in kids. This is why they work in partnership with a health and disability organisation that specialises in adults that exists to resolve complexity and empower individuals to achieve improved health and wellbeing. Responsibilities:

As a Paediatric Occupational Therapist, your role will include:

• Collaborating with a team of professionals, including speech therapists and psychologists, to provide holistic care for children.

• Conducting comprehensive assessments to evaluate children's developmental skills, strengths, and weaknesses.

• Developing and implementing individualised treatment plans to help children achieve their goals.

• Providing therapy sessions focused on fine motor skills, gross motor skills, sensory processing, and self-care.

• This is a hybrid position and requires the successful candidate to do home visits, visits to schools. We are currently finalising a lease on the Northen Gold Coast and at times, there will be an expectation to work in our Springwood Practice.

• Assess, write plans and oversee an Allied Health Assistant working with you.

• Educating parents and caregivers on effective ways to support children's development at home and in the community.

• Collaborating with fellow professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to care.

Skills Required:

To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills:

• Knowledge of child development and occupational therapy theory and practice

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong problem-solving abilities

• Organisational and time management skills

• Physical fitness and stamina

• Qld driver's licence

• Obtain a Blue card and NDIS worker screener check or willing to get one

Experience Required:

• Degree in occupational therapy from an accredited tertiary institution.

• Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

• Experience working with children with various developmental conditions and disabilities.

• Experience collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

Candidates with the following qualifications and experiences will be highly regarded:

• Expertise in specific developmental conditions (e.g., autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).

• Experience working with culturally diverse populations.

• Experience working closely with families of children with developmental conditions and disabilities.

• Proficiency in specific assessment and intervention tools and techniques.

• Familiarity with research and evidence-based practice.

• Use of own car for travel to clients and remunerated according to NDIS travel cost allowance.

Benefits and Perks:

This role will be offered as a contractor or a salary position pending on your personal preference.

Hybrid working model with the support of two office locations and a team of Allied Health Professionals to bounce ideas from.

Salary scale pending experience between $85,000 and $95,000 /year FTE plus superannuation

You will be mentored and guided by one of the most experienced paediatric occupational therapists with more than 40 years’ of experience.
