Web Development Intern

Quinlan Consulting provide management advisory and consulting services. Our organisation comprises divisions of digital and strategic marketing, accounting, tax, human resources (under EQ People trading name) and business advisory. Our commercial training division provides online training platforms to over 2000 students.Leveraging our training department’s LMS we have a structured learning path for interns. This provides practical learning experience for the first 1-2 weeks before they progress into working alongside our team. Summary: As a Web Development intern, you will collaborate with our marketing, senior management and wider team to gain hands-on experience and develop your skills in web development within our organisation. Your insightful contribution will involve the design, development, and maintenance of our company's websites and web applications. This role offers valuable learning opportunities and exposure to various web development technologies and practices. This internship will help you acquire web development skills and provide you with knowledge of various strategies. Ultimately, you will gain broad experience in web development and should be prepared to enter any fast-paced work environment. Key Responsibilities: • Participate in existing projects within a team (shadowing our web developer expert and have an opportunity to implement solutions whilst supervised) – including developing and maintaining websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other relevant web technologies. • Data Analysis – researching, reviewing, and analysing websites and providing comments, feedback and recommendations on their performance. • Training on how to perform a Digital Health Check which allows business owners to make informed decisions based on data and the analysis of that data. Digital Health Checks are conducted utilising public company information in order to analyse the online presence and performance of a business to be able to provide detailed, specific feedback around their technical, design, content and branding aspects. • SEO Training and collaboration with the marketing team to implement on-page and off-page strategies, including keyword-based content strategies, to enhance search engine optimisation (SEO). • Implement and manage tracking codes and tags using tools such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Google Search Console. • Ensure websites are responsive, mobile-friendly, and optimised for various devices and browsers. • Work with various content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Shopify, and others to create and update website content. • Work on and support development/improvement projects as assigned by management. • Provision of effective Incident Management, working closely with resolver groups to undertake effective Problem Management. • Identify opportunities for optimising system performance and provide suggestions for development. • Maintain working knowledge of the latest company technology to provide support. • Work with the Team to achieve performance goals and increase productivity. Requirements: • Current enrolment (or completed) a Web Development related Bachelor or Master’s degree. (eg. Computer Science, Web Development, IT)• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal. • Reliable internet connection to support remote work. • Advanced proficiency in WordPress, including theme customisation and plugin development. • Familiarity with on-page and off-page SEO strategies and implementation. • Experience working with CMS platforms such as WordPress, Shopify, and others. • Proficiency in Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Google Search Console. • Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive web design principles. • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team. • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. • Self-motivated and eager to learn and apply new concepts and technologies in a fast-paced environment. • Familiarity with graphic design tools and concepts is a plus. Working Conditions: • The Intern will work from the company's office or remotely, depending on the company's policies and the intern's preferences • The intern may be required to work some evenings or weekends, depending on the company's schedule • This is an unpaid internship, but the intern will gain valuable experience and knowledge of Web Development practices in the industry.
