About the Consumer Banking team:

As a Retail Banking graduate, you’ll join our Consumer division and gain experience across the teams that help customers through some of life's biggest financial moments – from buying a first home and managing everyday finances, to building financial confidence and planning for the future. This stream brings together the people, products, and services that support our customers at every stage of their lives.

You will develop a broad understanding of our retail business through rotations across our branch network, virtual banking teams, and specialist functions. Supported by experienced banking professionals who are invested in your development, you’ll build the knowledge, confidence, and relationship skills to lay the foundations for a rewarding career. You'll also experience our unique Community Banking model firsthand and see the positive impact it creates.

What your year will look like:

Over 12 months, you'll gain exposure to a range of experiences, helping you build a broad understanding of the business while preparing you for your future role. You will:

• Start with security: Join us as a permanent, full-time employee from day one, giving you the confidence to focus on learning before transitioning into your guaranteed landing role in Consumer at the end of the program.


• Experience a tailored rotational program: Explore different areas within the division and undertake a specialist rotation of your choice from a curated list.


• Receive dedicated support: Start with a dedicated rotation leader and buddy in every placement to guide your day-to-day, plus ongoing mentorship and guidance from an Early Career Lead who you will report to throughout the entire program.


• Make a real impact: Work on meaningful initiatives that create positive outcomes. We value fresh thinking and feedback, and you'll be trusted to contribute your ideas from day one to help evolve both our business and our graduate program.


• Build your network: Grow alongside a cohort of graduates while building genuine relationships with leaders and stakeholders from across the organisation.

What you’ll bring to the role:

If you are in your final year of study or have graduated within the past three years, are eager to learn, open to new experiences, and ready to grow, we want to hear from you. To set yourself up for success in this role, you will have:

• A degree in Business, Commerce, Banking, Finance, Economics, Arts, or a related field (we are open to diverse academic backgrounds!).


• A willingness to learn and the motivation to take on new challenges in a constantly changing environment.


• The ability to build genuine relationships, communicate effectively, and collaborate with others.


• Initiative, confidence to contribute new ideas, and a passion for creating positive outcomes for customers and communities.

While not essential, you’ll stand out from the crowd if you have:

• Previous customer service, sales, or business-related experience.

What to expect:

We want our recruitment process to be a valuable, two-way experience. It’s not just about us getting to know you - it’s a chance for you to discover if Bendigo Bank is the perfect place to launch your career. Here is what our process looks like:

• Online assessment (video response): Within 48 hours of submitting your application, you will receive an email link to complete a short online assessment. This consists of video responses to three simple questions so we can learn a bit more about you beyond your resume. (Be sure to check your junk folder if you don't see it!).


• Initial conversation: Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by our Early Career Lead an initial, casual chat about your aspirations and why you’re interested in the program.


• Final panel interview:  If your application progresses, you’ll join a panel interview with business leaders from your chosen division. While it is an interview, we want to ensure it's well worth your time. It’s a collaborative discussion and a great chance to start building your professional network, ask your own questions, and get a real feel for our program to ensure we're the right fit for each other.
