Our graduate program

As a Graduate at Allens, you’ll complete two 12-month rotations in different practice areas, giving you broad exposure to the way our teams work with clients and each other. We don’t work in silos, so you won’t be limited to one partner or one practice area. You’ll learn by working with different teams, building technical skills, commercial judgement and confidence through work that carries real consequence and day-to-day feedback.

You’ll be involved in significant domestic and global matters, including complex transactions and advisory work that help shape industries, communities and markets. You’ll also have the opportunity to apply for a client secondment, or an international secondment to London or Asia through our Linklaters alliance.

During the program, you’ll learn from some of Australia’s leading legal minds in an environment where high performance is expected and supported. We’ll help you build your understanding of commercial law, develop the professional skills clients value, and grow the judgement needed to contribute with confidence.

You'll have access to personalised tools, training and development opportunities, including:

• Support to meet your admission requirements, including enrolment in the Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice program, with admission typically taking place mid-year;
• A personalised one-week induction program to help you understand the firm, our clients and what good looks like at Allens;
• On-the-job training, supervision, coaching and mentoring, with support from your Performance Coach, a partner, and a buddy who can answer day-to-day questions and help you settle in. You’ll be encouraged to take ownership of your learning, seek feedback and shape your development;
• Practical legal seminars through our Cornerstone program; and
• Workshops and online modules to help you build business, professional and digital skills for a changing legal market.

You’ll also have opportunities to contribute through pro bono work and community initiatives focused on alleviating disadvantage, advancing reconciliation, improving access to justice and promoting sustainability.

Eligibility
