Job Description - Registered Undergraduate Student of Nursing/Midwifery (RUSONM)



  • Location: Multiple Western Health Sites 

  • Employment Type: Fixed Term, Part Time 

  • Salary: RUSON/M Year 1 + Superannuation + Salary Packaging

Western Health is currently seeking enthusiastic and motivated students to join our dynamic nursing teams as Registered Undergraduate Students of Nursing/Midwifery (RUSONM). This is a valuable opportunity to develop your skills, build professional confidence, and support the delivery of high-quality care under the guidance of experienced Registered Nurses. 


 


Key responsibilities: 



  • Work under the delegation and supervision of a Registered Nurse 

  • Provide assistance with a variety of patient care activities 

  • Contribute to the delivery of safe, effective and person-centered care 

  • Gain valuable experience in acute medical and surgical ward settings 


 


About you: 



  • Be currently enrolled in a university course leading to registration as a Registered Nurse or as a dual Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife 

  • Complete your final year of studies in 2027 

  • Be available to work a minimum of one shift per week 

  • Be able to work rotating AM and PM shifts 

  • Be able to accommodate your work hours around clinical placement commitments 


 


Intake start dates:



  • July 2026 

  • October 2026 

  • January 2027 

  • April 2027 


 


Flexible rotating rosters will be available to support your academic and clinical schedules.  


 


While there is potential for the fixed-term contract to be extended, applicants who are not offered an extension may continue their employment on an ongoing casual basis, provided they remain enrolled in a Nursing or Midwifery university program.
