Job Description - Administration Support Officer

We are searching for a brilliant Administration Support Officer to join our awesome team at Dulabed and Malanbarra Yidinji Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC in Gordonvale, Cairns & Far North QLD.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

This Administration Support role works with the Dulabed and Malanbarra Yidinji Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (DMYAC) undertaking and supporting Traditional Owner-led Country based management, in collaboration with partner organisations at a local, State and Commonwealth level. The role is 20 hours per week, preferably four days at five hours each, with flexibility around start and finish times. This is an Identified position and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander People are encouraged to apply.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is accountable for the delivery of administrative and office support services for DMYAC and its Jawajawa Rangers program.

  • Manage and maintain the main office area and administrative functions of DMYAC and the Jawajawa Rangers team.
  • Maintain databases & Registers.
  • Maintain financial management data using Xero accounting software.
  • Receive and manage correspondence.
  • Provide administration support to the Executive Officer and Ranger Coordinator.
  • Assist the Board of Directors with its statutory obligations.
  • Manage member and stakeholder enquiries.
  • Assist the team with meeting, workshop and community presentations logistics.
  • Prepare timesheets. 
  • Operate and maintain the phone, computer and photocopier machines.
  • Uphold a strict level of confidentiality around organisational business, systems and records.
  • Undertake other duties as directed by the Executive Officer and/or Ranger Coordinator.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Essential (you must have all of the following): 

  • Experience in office administration (ideally at least five years).
  • High level of experience with Xero accounting software.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Current Queensland Class C driver’s license.
  • Current Qld Working with Children Blue Card (or ability to obtain one within 3 months of employment).
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with both Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.
  • Ability to work well in a team or unsupervised as required.
  • Ability to undertake activities on Country if required.

Desirable (it would be good if you had some of the following) 

  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety rules and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of relevant legislation i.e. Native Title, ORIC.
