Job Description - Bookkeeper - Immediate Start - Part-Time

We are in need of a proactive Bookkeeper to join our knowledgeable team at Private Advertiser in Melbourne VIC.

This Melbourne based funds management company has investment products that include managed investment schemes, property, fixed income, multi asset, and income funds for wholesale clients. 

A 2 day per week part-time opportunity has arisen to join the Finance team for a Bookkeeper reporting to the CFO 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Process and record daily financial transactions with accuracy and efficiency using Xero (accounting software).
  • Assist with accounts receivable and payable, including issuing invoices, collecting payments, and processing vendor invoices in Xero.
  • Participate in monthly and year-end closing procedures, including preparing data for the Business Activity Statement (BAS).
  • Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts in Xero.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger records in Xero.

 

  • Assist senior accountants with preparing the BAS, including:
    • Gathering and summarizing GST information (sales and purchases) in Xero.
    • Calculating PAYG liabilities.
    • Entering data into the BAS form or Xero.
    • Reviewing the BAS for accuracy before submission.
    • Stay up-to-date on relevant accounting standards and best practices, including those related to BAS reporting.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Mandatory: Proven experience working with Xero accounting software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
