Your Opportunity

In this role, you will be working with the Family and Carer Mental Health (FCMH) Program. FCMHP supports families and carers of people with a mental illness through a comprehensive range of supports and services. The service works with carers as well as carers’ mental health support groups and networks, and other related local agencies and service providers in the NSW North Coast.

As the Carer Education Coordinator, you will travel across the Northern Rivers/Tweed region (using a Mission Australia pool vehicle), to facilitate carer education and training sessions.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Create training calendars and deliver workshops in collaboration with carers, community partners & the FCMHP team
  • Work in a team environment to maintain key stakeholder relationships and partnerships
  • Identify and support the individual needs of carers participating in the program
  • Collect evaluation data on the program or any other tasks required for evaluation
  • Develop effective relationships to promote awareness of the program
  • Research, secure and maintain appropriate venue/s and resources
  • Monitor program budget to ensure adherence and effective spending

Requirements for Success

  • Diploma in community services, social work, or extensive previous experience in program coordination in the community sector
  • Strong prior experience in group facilitation and the ability to engage in the community
  • Understanding of the role of carers, mental illness, and its effects on families.
  • Personal lived experience as a carer for a person with a mental illness is desirable
  • First aid certificate or willing to obtain
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
