Job Description - Classroom Support Teacher - Holy Trinity Primary, Curtin ACT

Location: Curtin, ACT
Employment Type: Permanent
Employment Status: Part-time (4 days a week)
Salary Range: $76,754.00 to $126,236.00 (based on skills and experience) plus superannuation (paid pro-rata for part-time appointments)
Start Date: Monday 22 July 2024 (Term 3 of 2024)
Closing Date: 11.55pm Sunday, 7 July 2024

About the Role

We are currently seeking a Classroom Teacher commencing in Term 3 to join our community of highly motivated, passionate and experienced educators. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support to individual and/or groups of students.
  • Provide support to teaching staff with students with diverse needs in the classroom.
  • Implement modifications and adaptations to the environment or teaching materials
  • Fulfil all requirements relating to assessment and its documentation
  • Maintain records related to personal timetables and student(s) progress including the development of Personal Plans and the collection of data regarding student(s) goals/objectives
  • Research, develop and prepare resources and teaching aids for students with diverse needs
  • Plan, prepare, record and evaluate learning activities designed for the specific needs of students with diverse needs
  • Support teachers with Personal Plans and ensure all data for NCCD is correct
  • Communicate with parents in written reports and during parent teacher interviews, Personal Plan meetings and at other times as required
  • Communicate with and establish effective and cooperative working relationships with teaching and non-teaching colleagues

Qualifications

  • Relevant Education/ Teaching tertiary qualification; and
  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration and ACT Teaching Quality Institute Accreditation

Essential Criteria

  1. Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills who is able to engage positively with colleagues, students and parents;
  2. The capacity to be a proactive member of a professional learning community complying with legal, administrative and professional requirements;
  3. Classroom practices and organisational skills that create supportive and safe environments for all students, including meeting a variety of learning needs;
  4. A sound knowledge of the Australian Curriculum with the ability to organise, select and design content for effective teaching and learning;
  5. An understanding of the principles of child protection and confidentiality;
  6. Experience with successful planning and implementation of programs that support the diverse needs of students;
  7. A comprehensive understanding of assessment and reporting strategies and the need to provide effective and timely feedback to parents and students; and
  8. An understanding and commitment to the Church’s mission in Catholic Education and the capacity to contribute to the spiritual and community life of the school.

  • You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position.
  • Appointment is subject to satisfactory employment screening for child-related employment in accordance with CECG policy.
