Cleaner/Handyperson - Veterinary Hospital - Continuous Learning Opportunities - Part-Time

About the Role

Are you passionate about cleaning? Do you love gardening? Do you love working in a supportive team environment?  This role will offer you the opportunity to use your exceptional cleaning and gardening skills and combine those with your love for animals. 

A typical day at GVH will see you performing a variety of cleaning and gardening tasks, such as, however not limited to:

• Completing basic cleaning such as mopping, sweeping, vacuuming floors, cleaning windows, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash and making our common areas and reception areas sparkling,
• Cleaning requirements are completed in and around the Hospital building, including some garden maintenance such as weeding and mowing the lawns. Tools are provided.
• Assisting with cleaning animal cages and laundry.
• Spot cleaning areas as you go about your day.
• Maintaining stock supplies and cleaning equipment.

This is a job shared arrangement and you can expect to work 5 days a week, up to a minimum of 20 hours per week. This is a permanent part-time position.

We currently have availability to cover our Monday to Friday shift working  3.00pm to 7.00pm.

You MUST be flexible as there may be times you need to finish later.

Ideally you should also have availability to work the 6.30am to 10.30am shift to cover annual leave or sick leave, or if business needs change.

Our Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:-

• Previous cleaning,
• Previous gardening experience (desirable),
• Exceptional customer service skills,
• Self-motivated, and be able to work under limited supervision,
• Work closely with all the team and be flexible when asked to do cleaning outside your daily task list,
• Basic computer skills,
• Experience in using cleaning equipment,
• Good communication skills,
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, products, proper storage and disposal methods used in a Vet Hospital or the ability to learn,
• Willingness to make a long-term commitment to the role.
