Job Description - Collaborative Practice Educator

Role type: 0.4 FTE, CRC role, Fixed Term until June 2028 (2 x positions available)
Faculty: Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Health Sciences
Department/ School: Department of Paediatrics
Salary:

Level B $124,656 to $148,023 p.a. (pro rata) plus 17% super OR

Level C $152,695.00 - $176,065.00 p.a. (pro rata) plus 17% super

As a Collaborative Practice Educator at the Melbourne Children's Campus, you will have the opportunity to design, implement, and evaluate high-quality educational programs for healthcare professionals. You will collaborate with educators and stakeholders to foster interprofessional learning, promote leadership, and enhance communication skills, ultimately contributing to the creation of a Learning Health System. Your role will be pivotal in shaping the future of healthcare education and practice.

Your responsibilities will include:  

  • Lead Innovative Teaching and Learning: Develop and facilitate engaging, evidence-based education tailored to campus staff needs, including interprofessional learning, leadership, and communication.
  • Collaborate and Engage: Partner with campus leadership and educators to align education initiatives with organisational goals and promote a Learning Health System.
  • Evaluate and Improve Educational Outcomes: Collect feedback, assess programme impacts, and implement improvements to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Support Research and Knowledge Transfer: Undertake educational research and utilise multimedia applications to deliver education and knowledge transfer.

You will be a creative and adaptable educator with a strong background in healthcare education, capable of engaging diverse audiences and driving innovative solutions in dynamic environments.

You may also:  

  • Have a relevant tertiary qualification in education, healthcare, or a related field.
  • Possess strong facilitation skills and experience in delivering interactive education activities.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have a solid understanding of interprofessional collaboration and education needs within healthcare.
  • Be highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple education initiatives effectively.

Your new team – Department of Paediatrics

The Department of Paediatrics is the flagship representative of the University’s partnership with the Royal Children’s Hospital and is co-located with the hospital on Flemington Road, Parkville. 

The Department of Paediatrics is a large department within the School of Medicine. The Department has responsibility for the Child & Adolescent Health component of the Doctor of Medicine course of the School.  There are 90 academic and professional staff, 488 honorary academic staff, and more than 150 students who are enrolled to pursue research degrees from Honours, Masters and PhD.  Approximately 220 students rotate throughout the year undertaking the CAH clinical studies, and a further 60 students undertake research in the MD Research Project component of the MD course.   In 2021, the total research income for the Department was over $5.86 million (with a further $46 million directed via our research partner Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI), and members of the Department published 1126 peer-reviewed publications in 2022.
