Job Description - Communications Specialist


We are seeking a passionate Communications Specialist to join Western Power in a permanent part-time role. This position plays a key role in shaping and delivering strategic communications for internal audiences, as well as supporting the planning and delivery of events that strengthen, protect and enhance Western Power’s reputation.


 


Your Role in Action  


 



  • Plan and deliver high-quality communications and events with a proactive, disciplined approach that ensures consistency, clarity and impact.

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with internal stakeholders to align priorities and balance communications and event activity across the organisation.

  • Collaborate early and often with internal partners to navigate tight timelines, shifting expectations and complex deliverables.

  • Develop, implement and evaluate strategic communication plans for key projects and events, measuring impact and effectiveness.

  • Create compelling, well-crafted content by researching, writing, editing and publishing corporate communications as required.

  • Ensure all communications meet the highest standards of grammar and quality, and align with brand, style guidelines, corporate values and purpose.

  • Leverage existing communication channels and help shape new ones to ensure stakeholders are meaningfully informed and engaged.

  • Manage key stakeholder relationships to ensure communications and events are strategically aligned, professionally delivered and reputation-enhancing.

  • Demonstrated experience in a communications role within a large, complex organisation.

  • Proven ability to develop and deliver effective communication plans that support organisational goals.

  • Confidence balancing competing priorities and meeting deadlines with professionalism and care.

  • Strong relationship-building skills, with experience collaborating across teams and engaging key internal stakeholders.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a sharp eye for detail and clarity.

  • A collaborative, adaptable approach and a genuine passion for connecting people through clear, meaningful communication.
