 We are seeking a variety of Support Mentors to join our fantastic team in Perth.  We have a number of new clients about to join us who require experienced, resilient and confident Support Mentors.  

Your role is to support our clients living with a disability to go about their daily lives the way they want, by giving them support they need, when they need it. Working with our clients, who have diverse and complex needs, requires high levels of reliability and resilience. Your support and mentoring can have a meaningful impact on their lives. However, there will be challenging days due to behaviours and mental health issues. It's essential to have confidence and resilience to navigate these moments effectively. 

As a Support Mentor, you have a mature head on your shoulders, have confidence, resilience, and the ability to think on your feet, and put practical solutions in place.  You are experienced in putting professional boundaries in place with empathy and respect. You are supportive and have strong communication skills. 

 

More specifically: 

 

CLIENT GROUP (1) – seeking Female Support Mentors 

Location:  South of the River (Rockingham and surrounds) and Central 

These clients love to pamper, dance, watch you-tube and cook. 

You have experience in working with people with complex and diverse needs such as: 

  • Mental Health (Psychosocial, anxiety, OPD, Schizophrenia) 
  • First aid wound management 
  • Meal plan management 
  • Aggression and de escalation  
  • Eating disorders 

Rosters: Days, sleepovers, active and inactive overnights.

CLIENT GROUP (2) – seeking Male Support mentors 

Location:  Central Perth (Balga, Woodbridge, Westminster) 

You have solid experience in working with people with high complex needs who have been in the system for a long time.   

  • Intellectual disability 
  • Mental Health (Antisocial personality, Schizophrenia) 
  • ADHD 
  • Aggression and de escalation  

Rosters: Days, inactive and active sleepovers

Ideal Experience we need: 

  • Experience working with complex Mental Health needs - EUPD 
  • Healthcare Knowledge related to ABI and ID 
  • Experience in crisis intervention and management

What we need from you: 

  • Working rights status  
  • Certificate III in Disability / Community Services or relevant industry or lived experience 
  • Current Disability Screening (DHS or NDIS worker Screening)  
  • Current Working with Children check 
  • Current First Aid Certificate (including CPR)  
  • Australian Drivers Licence and clean, roadworthy vehicle for transporting clients 
  • Comprehensive Car insurance for business use 
  • Good English language skills for both verbal and written communication 
  • Attention to detail to follow documented plans and for reporting/record-keeping 
  • An ability to develop positive relationship whilst maintaining strong professional boundaries
