About the Role

Melba Support Services are seeking an experienced Disability Support Worker to join a Supported Independent Living home in Moe South, on a permanent part-time basis. This is a dynamic, sleepover model home supporting 3 individuals with complex support needs, on a rotating fortnightly roster.  

Working closely with a dedicated team, you will support residents with a range of daily living activities including personal care, medication management, and household tasks. You'll play a key role in promoting independence, enhancing wellbeing, and supporting meaningful participation in community and home life. 

The people living in this home require specialised support, including dementia management, epilepsy management, behaviour support and medication administration. 

Responsibilities

  • Implement support plans based on supported person’s needs, preferences, and interests 
  • Help with all aspects of daily living from getting up in the morning to going to bed at night 
  • Aid people to get to their chosen activities like social events, work, and appointments 
  • Promote personal choice and control for the person 
  • Assist with personal care, hygiene and household duties such as cleaning, cooking, and washing 
  • Administer medication 

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Cert 4 of Disability or equivalent qualification (Highly advantageous) 
  • Experience with complex behaviours 
  • Experience with psychosocial and neurological disabilities preferred 
  • Experience with manual handling 
  • A passion for enabling and working with people 
  • Desire for meaningful work and comfortable providing people with daily living support 
  • Willingness to learn new skills, undertake ongoing training 
  • Willingness to work as part of a team 

  

You will also bring with you or be willing to obtain*

  • NDIS Worker screening Check 
  • Working with Children Check 
  • Unrestricted Australian Driver’s License 
  • Evidence of COVID-19 vaccination status, including booster 
  • Current First Aid Certificate with CPR
