St Columba’s School, Bayswater, is a co-educational primary school catering for approximately 500 students from Pre-Kindy to Year 6. The school has a rich history founded by the Mercy sisters. The school has strong values that underpin all that we do. We are seeking an Education Assistant (Special Needs) to fill a temporary position (0.2 FTE) to support a student's personal care plan. This position is temporary pending workforce management.
The cover letter of applicants should address the following criteria:
• Must be prepared to support the Catholic ethos in the
performance of their duties;
• Ability to form strong relationships with students;
• Must be willing to be trained in catheterization for girls and be responsible for changing intermittent catheter throughout the day as per a personal care plan (professional training provided);
• Must be willing to assist students with toileting and nappy changes;
• A high degree of professionalism, confidentiality and initiative;
• Previous experience working with students with extensive needs would be advantageous.
• Certificate III Education Assistant or higher is required
Applications must include a cover letter (maximum of 2 pages), curriculum vitae (maximum of 5 pages) including the names of three referees, one of whom must be the applicant's most recent employer.
A current National Police History Check as issued by the Department of Education Western Australia must also be included. The appropriate Criminal History Record Check form is available from the Department of Education website.
On appointment, successful applicants will require a Working with Children Check. Application forms are available at certain Australia Post Outlets throughout the State. A list of participating Australia Post outlets can be found on the Australia Post website. An application for a WWC must be made in person
