Enrolled Nurse - Pathology Collector/ Phlebotomist

What you'll be doing

Contribute to a customer-focused pathology collection service for inpatients and outpatients.
Perform venipuncture on inpatients and outpatients as required.

Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2) with a Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia approved qualification for administration of medication (including intravenous medication administration).

Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical staff.

Previous venepuncture experience, familar with pathology terminology and requirements and the willingness to learn paediatric and nenoate blood collections.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services, including the use of Patient, Rostering and Quality systems.

Commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement and to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities.

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

The preferred candidate may be required to undergo a functional assessment prior to appointment.
