What does the role look like?

This part-time role is focused on maximising profits, accurately predicting financial trends, managing budgets, maintaining cash flow, handling daily account tasks, and offering strategic financial advice, all with professionalism and a touch of creativity. The role may have the ability to increase in hours as the business grows.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting a thorough analysis of profit margins across various products or services.
  • Developing accurate financial forecasts based on historical data, market trends, and business goals to assist in strategic decision-making.
  • Creating and managing budgets in collaboration with department heads, ensuring alignment with overall company objectives and prudent resource allocation.
  • Monitoring cash flow, identifying potential cash gaps or surpluses, and implementing strategies to maintain healthy liquidity levels.
  • Accurate and timely submission of the Business Activity Statement (BAS).
  • Overseeing day-to-day accounting activities such as accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and general ledger maintenance to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial regulations.
  • Evaluating insurance needs, procuring appropriate coverage, and managing insurance policies to mitigate risks and protect the company's assets.
  • Generating timely and accurate financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations, tax laws and compliance in AUS, USA and EU, and reporting requirements, and staying abreast of any changes or updates in financial legislation.
  • Collaborating with senior management to develop financial strategies aligned with business objectives, identifying opportunities for growth, cost savings, and risk mitigation.
  • Providing financial insights and recommendations to senior management based on data analysis, industry knowledge, and financial expertise to support informed decision-making and drive business growth.

Our ideal candidate would possess a blend of financial expertise, strategic thinking, and adaptability. Our ideal candidate will have experience in:

  • Qualifications in finance, accounting or similar related field are preferred.
  • Proven experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
  • Registered BAS agent.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, in particular the Xero accounting system.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
  • Strategic mindset with the capacity to identify opportunities for financial optimisation.
  • Integrity and professionalism in handling confidential financial information.
  • Proactive attitude towards problem-solving and the ability to propose solutions.
