The Graduate Nurse Program 2025 Combined Mental Health Stream

Our 2025 Graduate Nurse Program (Combined Mental Health Stream) has been developed for nurses passionate about both general paediatrics and mental health. This program aims to facilitate your transition from a newly graduated Registered Nurse to a competent and confident Registered Nurse, through ongoing learning and development in a safe and supportive environment. The combined General Paediatrics and Mental Health Graduate Program integrates into the RCH's foundational paediatric nursing pathway. Upon completing the two rotations the Graduate Nurse will have the opportunity to identify and select their ongoing clinical pathway.

The program is designed to promote:

• Young person-centered, family and recovery-focused mental health care

• Foundations in trauma-informed care and therapeutic engagement

• Competence in paediatric nursing practice and youth mental health nursing practice
• Engagement in critical questioning and reflective practice
• Integration into effective multidisciplinary team functioning

Our program will include:
• 12 month program • Part Time
• Orientation and preceptorship
• Supernumerary time
• Regular in-service education and training
• Professional development days

Application Form
This is available as a part of the online application process; you do not need to attach a cover letter as this form replaces the need for a cover letter. 
Please ensure you complete the Graduate Nurse Application Form.

Resume
Your resume should be no longer than four pages and address the following 

• Contact details (include full name, address, telephone number and email address)
• Post-secondary school education history
• Recent employment history (include responsibilities in each role)
• Volunteer experience
• Any further professional development undertaken
• Professional memberships
• No photo required on your resume

2nd and 3rd year Appraisals
• Please provide only the appraisal pages 

• Two appraisals are required, this must include one from your most recent placement 
• Include ANSAT assessment, student reflection page and comments by preceptor (both interim and final assessment)

Academic Transcripts 
• Certified copy of your most recent transcripts 

• Please include Grading key
