Closer to home, and conveniently located in beautiful Newcastle on NSW's coast, the Mercure Newcastle is looking for a motivated and reliable part-time Handyperson to join our maintenance team and assist in keeping our property in top condition.

What will you be doing?

• Perform basic maintenance and repair tasks, including plumbing, painting, HVAC, and general upkeep of hotel facilities.
• Ensure all guest rooms, public areas, and service areas are in excellent working order.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff.
• Conduct regular inspections of hotel equipment, machinery, and systems to identify potential issues.
• Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and materials, and request replacements as necessary.
• Assist with setup and breakdown for special events or room configurations.
• Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations.
• Communicate effectively with hotel staff to address urgent maintenance concerns. 

Your Skills and experience include:

• Previous experience working on the maintenance of hotels, fixed plant or equipment systems desirable.
• Knowledge of preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance strategies.
• Good written and verbal communication skills. 
• Self motivated person who takes a proactive approach to work and is punctual
• and reliable.
• Ability to accommodate flexibility with shifts including weekends as required.
