Your role at St John of God Social Outreach
We are seeking applications for Peer Support Worker (0.6FTE - 2 available positions) to join our Social Outreach team in Bunbury, on a permanent part-time basis.
Working as a Peer Support Worker, you will provide the highest level of support to individuals who are provided with a service by South-West Community Alcohol and Drug Service (SWCADS). This will be achieved through the implementation of services and programs that are flexible and individualised in response to each person being supported.
The Position
Participate in a range of appropriate programs and activities aimed at increasing the individual’s skills, knowledge and improve access to required services in the community.
Provide the highest level of support for individuals supported and ensure each person supported is treated with respect that enhances their personal worth, dignity and rights, at all times.
Assist in achieving individual’s, team and service goals and objectives.
Seek ways of improving the service standards through working closely with clinical care givers, AOD prevention staff, line managers and contributing to meetings.
Maintain a high level of service provision for all individuals and ensure the health, wellbeing and safety of all people supported and staff is maintained at all times.
Support the identified needs of individuals in relation to their particular life circumstances.
The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to liaise effectively with service providers and community groups to promote understanding and awareness of alcohol and other drug (AOD) issues within the community. In addition, you will be capable of working under pressure and using initiative to manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
This role will require a current drivers license (aligned to State licence requirement), Working with Children's Check and National Police Clearence. Applicants with a Certificate IV or above in Community Services, AOD, Mental Health or related, with lived experience will be highly regarded.

We can offer you
Salary: $68,939 to $74,417 (pro rata for part time) plus 12% Superannuation
Permanent part-time, working 22.8 hours per week
