Base Salary $156,103 - $179,998 (pro rata) + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
The Charles Perkins Centre and Northern Clinical School have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced researcher to join the Sleep Research Group to work closely with the study team on an NHMRC investigator grant, investigating the links between sleep disordered breathing and cardiovascular diseases. This research could potentially save lives, money and increase quality of life for cardiovascular patients.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
report to the Chair in Sleep Medicine and Co-leads of the study
undertake clinical consultations with research patients
effectively communicate, negotiate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including study participants
ensure that ethics guidelines, standards and WHS requirements are met for clinical trials
provide expertise in cardiovascular physiology and medicine to contribute to research strategy
measure physiological and structural variables within cardiovascular and related functions, managing and analysing data, statistical analysis, interpretation and reporting (publications and presentations)
develop new research ideas with the team
apply for research funding to support the program
manage complex and varied reporting requirements
build and maintain reputation for academic excellence to expand knowledge and practice.
About you

have clinical qualifications and medical registration as a respiratory/sleep physician
have a PhD in the sleep / cardiovascular field
demonstrated experience in sleep and cardiovascular research, including physiological measurements and image analysis
a demonstrated ability to manage large and complex clinical research projects and oversee the project from start to end
a demonstrated ability to effectively engage complex stakeholder groups, and build effective relationships across organisations with diverse needs and priorities
demonstrated capacity to coordinate all aspects of the research process including study design, ethics approval, study implementation, analysis and reporting and publication of study findings
excellent time management skills, and the ability to prioritise multiple competing deadlines in a busy, fast-paced environment, with flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and stakeholder demands
outstanding interpersonal skills and experience in establishing and maintaining strong relationships internally and externally, and particularly with clinical collaborators
