Base Salary starting at $187,960 pro rata + 17% superannuation

The School of Medical Sciences is recognised as one of the leading centres for medical science education in the world. Our team of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy across a range of therapeutic areas.
The Principal Research Fellow is a senior academic leader recognised nationally or internationally for excellence in their discipline. The role leads original, innovative and impactful research that strengthens the University’s standing as a national and global leader.
Working strategically and autonomously, the Principal Research Fellow drives high-impact research programs, fosters a culture of excellence, mentors emerging academics and research students, and builds strong external partnerships that deliver translational outcomes across research, policy and practice.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
maintain a national or international reputation for academic excellence through independent and innovative research contributions
maintain a strong research profile, including publication in peer-reviewed international journals and outputs recognised under excellence in research australia (era)
lead major research initiatives, including internationally funded and partner-engaged research projects
lead and manage successful competitive research grants and pursue diversified funding opportunities
maintain quality, standards and excellence across all research activities and outputs
provide mentoring, supervision and research development opportunities to lower-level academics and research students
make an outstanding contribution to research, governance and administrative activities of the school or faculty, including participation in university committees
undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required.
About you
a doctorate or phd in a relevant field
postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline
extensive experience conducting original research and engaging in scholarly activity
a recognised national or international reputation supported by a strong research profile
extensive experience supervising and mentoring academic staff and research students
a wide and established network of academic, industry and professional partnerships
demonstrated strategic thinking, leadership capability and sound judgement in complex environments
excellent communication, organisational and presentation skills.
