Job Overview:
The Procurement and Commercial Officer is a part of the Strategic Procurement and Commercial Management team. They will be responsible for assisting Elysium team members and supporting on a wide range of legal and commercial activities. This will include reviewing and helping to draft commercial contracts to ensure the company’s interests are protected. This may also include reviewing various tender documents and government policy as well as providing support to client projects
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Under the supervision of the Strategic Procurement and Commercial Management team, draft, review, negotiate, and finalise a wide variety of contracts including service agreements, confidentiality agreements, teaming agreements and licensing agreements
- Research and provide input on a wide range of legal issues such as commercial law, corporate law, employment law, intellectual property and HR
- Ensure the company's compliance with laws, regulations, and internal and Government policies.
- Contribute to business development activities
- Assist the Strategic Procurement and Commercial Management team with the review and development of various procurement documentation
- Liaise with internal Elysium Stakeholders, external Legal Counsel and Elysium teaming partners
- Participate in the formulation and drafting of general management policy
- Work closely with other departments to ensure commercial opportunities are maximised and legal risks are minimised.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential
- Completed, or working towards completion of, a Law degree (LLB, JD, or equivalent) or related discipline (Business, Commerce).
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Suite
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A collaborative attitude to work and problem-solving
- Initiative and a self-starter attitude
- Ability to research and condense information in to an easy-to-understand format
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including providing clear, concise advice and input when required
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to liaise with a wide range of diverse stakeholders
Desirable
- A tertiary qualification in Procurement, Public Policy or similar
- Experience in commercial law, preferably within a corporate environment.
- Experience in Government and/or Government-related employment
- Knowledge of, and interest in, Government Policy and Public Procurement
- Negotiation skills
- Problem-solving, analytical, and organisational skills.
Location & Work Environment:
This position is based in either Sydney or Canberra. Our offices are located in Braddon, Canberra and Woolloomooloo, Sydney. Elysium offers a hybrid working arrangement for all employees, although you will be expected to work predominately in the office for the first two months of employment. Afterward you may be permitted to work from home, depending on requirements and availability.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This position is offered as Casual or Part time depending on the candidate. Days and hours of work will be agreed with the preferred candidate between Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Elysium offers flexible working arrangements for their employees when required. In particular, we offer flexible arrangements for parents regarding school pick-ups and defence personnel undertaking reserve training.
Travel:
Travel is primarily local, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
