Hours: 60.8 hours per fortnight, 7.6 hour day

About the opportunity

We’re seeking a Program Lead who can:

  • Provide organisational leadership, advocacy, oversight and compliance with the family violence and safeguarding strategy across Mercy Hospitals Victoria Limited (MHVL).  

  • Ensure that MHVL meets all regulatory and statutory requirements, including policies and procedures relating to the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management (MARAM) framework, Information Sharing Scheme legislation, child protection, health, safeguarding, statutory compliance, confidentiality and data protection.

  • Lead significant stakeholder engagement and partnership management internally and externally to elevate the profile and recognition necessary to ensure best practice, optimal response and appropriate policy and governance frameworks are in place.

  • Embrace the accountability for Family Violence and Safeguarding practice implementation and maintenance across Werribee Mercy Hospital, Mercy Hospital for Women and Mercy Early Parenting Centres.

The Program Lead ensures the successful implementation of several family violence and safeguarding deliverables including:

  • Continuing to embed the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework (MARAM)  

  • Partnering with antenatal clinics to support the ongoing implementation of routine family violence screening

  • Delivering and continually improving tailored face to face training sessions for clinical groups

  • working with the Safeguarding Lead in launching online modules for Elder Abuse and Child Safety

  • Implementing an audit based, quality improvement program that ensures Family Violence and Safeguarding Practices best practice is delivered

  • Ongoing improvement of policy, procedure and education models for clinicians working with People who Use violence (PUV)

  • Providing leadership to Family Violence and Safeguarding strategic planning and delivery

  • Providing specialist Family Violence and Safeguarding consultation to clinicians managing complex cases

  • Play an active role in improving information‑sharing practices, including coordinating workflow, supporting compliance requirements, and fulfilling requests as they arise.

  • Supervision and development of the Program Officer - Family Violence and Safeguarding 

What you’ll bring

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Social work or Nursing or relevant qualification as per the Health and Allied Services Managers and Administrative Workers agreement

  • Eligible for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (social work only)

  • Relevant Post graduate qualification or working toward

  • Experience in applying evidence-based practices in relation to family violence and child safety to create organisational awareness and demonstrated compliance

  • Experience in driving cultural change or leading organisation-wide development programs

  • Extensive experience working within the Family Violence and/or Child Safeguarding space

  • Minimum of ten years’ relevant role related experience and five years’ experience in a hospital or healthcare setting

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • Candidates are required to meet the position and qualification requirements.

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.

  • Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
