About Project Employment
Project Employment (formerly ‘Charged Up for Work’) is a customised employment pathway program for high school students with disability and is designed to smooth the transition from school to the workplace. The program, running four times a year in line with school terms, commences with a tailored 7-week group program. Through seven job-focused group learning sessions, students are supported to learn practical employment skills in an environment where their capacity, confidence, and ability to achieve an employment-based outcome can flourish.
On completion of the group program, students are offered up to 12 months’ individualised work placement support to pursue the employment outcome of their choice, including employment, work experience placements, further training/study or referrals to other support services.
Position Purpose
The Liaison Officer reports to the Service Delivery Manager and is responsible for assisting participants become more employment ready by negotiating and locating suitable opportunities to further develop employment skills, these will include volunteer, work experience, paid employment, and School Based Traineeships. The role also plays a key element in building relationships with Schools, Educational Institutes, Employers, and broader stakeholders, developing and building relationships both Internally and Externally across all Integrated Services.
Key Responsibilities and Key Outcomes
• Ascertain the skills, abilities, and interests of participants.
• Advise participants on activities that enhance the development of all work-related skills.
• Build employer relationships to create opportunities of work experience, employment, and school-based traineeships.
• Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders to include Schools and Educational Institutions, families, guardians, and allied health professionals.
• Maintain awareness on current business and labour market trends.
• Work collaboratively with Account Managers, Consultants to secure suitable opportunities for all participants.
• Actively market our services to the wider community
• Provide on-the -job support during work experience or employment.
• Attend Expos and Events to promote Edge services.
• Maintain required records on participants activities and outcomes.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Previous experience supporting young people with their education and / or into employment.
• Demonstrated understanding and commitment to working with people who have a disability.
• Ability to build relationships with local business to create work experiences or employment opportunities to include School Based Traineeships
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships with key stakeholders to include Schools, Educational Institutions, Families, and broader stakeholders.
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal skills, and communication skills
• Contribute to the team and team environment in a positive manner.
• he ability to work effectively with people with disabilities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong understanding of compliance
• Excellent marketing and negotiation skills
• Strong ability to connect third parties for the benefit of the consumer.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Intermediate computer skills
Qualifications & Experience
• A minimum Certificate IV in Career Development (highly desirable), Employment Services or Training and Assessment (desirable) OR a minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in DES or Employment Services role, or other educational pathways to employment role.
• Demonstrated experience with School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs) and the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector.
• Experience with working with youth with disability (highly desirable)
Desirable
• Certificate IV Career Development is an Advantage, but not essential.
• An understanding and knowledge of School Based Traineeships

• Full Australian working rights
• National Police Clearance
• Working with Children Check (WWC)
• Current Western Australian C class driving license and a comprehensively insured vehicle.
