Registered Nurse

Your Role

The Position

• Maintains and develops clinical skills in order to care for patients appropriate to level of competence.

• Delivers a high standard of patient care utilizing appropriate resources cost effectively.

• Adheres to and supports hospital policies, procedures and standards.

• Acts as the patient’s advocate and facilitate the rights of individuals.

• Provides patient education and acts as a resource where appropriate.

• Prioritises workload using resources effectively.

• Provides supervision to Enrolled Nurses, students and PCAs as required.

• Attends relevant training sessions offered by SJGHC. Recognises the necessity to continually develop skills and acquire additional knowledge appropriate to the position.

• Achieves mandatory annual hospital competencies and assumes responsibility for record maintenance.

• Actively seeks opportunities for further professional development.

• Seeks staff development education and presents evidence of attendance to Nurse Manager.

• Updates practice in accordance with changes in Hospital/Nursing Policies and Procedures

• Shares knowledge and skills with other staff using informal and formal methods.

• Maintains responsibility for initiating own annual performance appraisal, setting and achieving objectives, in liaison with Nurse Manager.

• All other reasonable duties as directed by the relevant Manager/Supervisor

Position Requirements

• A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.

• Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife.

• Recent clinical experience in an acute care/relevant environment

• Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.

• Well-developed skills in communication, conflict resolution, negotiation and problem solving.

• Knowledge of relevant acts, codes and standards relevant to current practice.

• Commitment to personal and professional development.
