Registered Nurse - Perioperative

Join our dynamic surgical team at St John of God Geelong Hospital, a well-established specialist service delivering high-quality care across Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery, Endoscopy, ENT, and Oral Surgery.

As a Casual Registered Nurse, you will support surgeons and medical staff in the operating theatre, assist with patient care before, during, and after procedures, and help coordinate junior staff and students.

We are looking for a flexible, skilled nurse with experience in Scrub Scout, Anaesthetics, Recovery, and Admissions, excellent communication skills, a strong commitment to patient safety, and a focus on delivering a positive patient experience.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am – 7:00 pm

The Position

• Provides direct total patient care to patients to achieve identified outcomes in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures and Care Paths.

• Demonstrates knowledge of/and functions in accordance with legislation and common law affecting nursing practice and acknowledges accountability/responsibility for own actions.

• Ensures Infection Management policies and procedures are available to all staff and adhered to and implemented

• Assist in completion of incidents / hazards / injuries reports.

• Participate in the documentation of Risk Assessments and Standard Operating Procedures for activities that could pose a OHS risk

• Communicate effectively with all customers and patients using the appropriate channels, utilising appropriate formal and informal channels of communication.

You will have current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and demonstrated knowledge of current practices and trends.

To succeed you will have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, ability to identify and solve problems, with a demonstrated commitment to quality patient care and patient satisfaction.

The Benefits:

• Salary: $51.70 to $65.25 per hour (casual loading included), plus 12% superannuation
