Job Description - Senior Product Manager

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to join our Melbourne team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Group Product Manager and the broader product team to shape our product strategy and roadmap. You will also partner with the Engineering team to deliver a world-class, ever-improving product to our users.

You will be at the heart of our cross-functional product development, working on our two key products - Essential Assessment and Education Perfect - with the exciting goal of consolidating them into a single, market-leading product.

This role is part-time, spanning a total of three days per week. We have a high degree of flexibility regarding working hours and days, allowing you to establish a schedule that aligns with your preferences.

What you will do

  • Work with Product leadership and other senior members of the team to shape the product strategy and key priorities for our Assessment platform
  • Work with your team to define, develop and communicate your product roadmap according to strategy.
  • Identify opportunities for product innovation while maintaining the fundamental business objectives.
  • Serve as the agile product owner, delivering the highest possible business value through ongoing learning and improvement in agile methodologies.
  • Gather and prioritise product and user requirements, refine and prioritise the product backlog in collaboration with the team.
  • Identify success criteria and metrics, define acceptance criteria, write acceptance tests, and provide the definition of done and ready.
  • Provide sprint goals, new user stories for sprint planning, and take a user-focused and data-informed approach to test and iterate solutions rapidly.
  • Provide support for the sales process through effective engagement with customers, input into RFPs and participation in other pre-sales activities as needed.
  • Work with our tech writers to ensure that product documentation is current and accurate.
  • Coordinate the go-to-market launch of new product features in collaboration with Marketing.
  • Act as an escalation point for the high-priority customer and product problems.
  • Implement a continuous discovery model to validate customer and market needs
  • Foster strong connections with users: students, teachers, school leaders, and parents
  • Cultivate deep qualitative and quantitative insights into product and user needs, encompassing the entire customer journey

About you

  • Proven experience in the craft of product management and successfully launching products throughout their lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, mentor junior product managers, and foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience in developing product strategies, roadmaps, and prioritising initiatives based on market analysis, customer feedback, and business objectives.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in using data and metrics to inform product decisions, track performance, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Bonus if you have experience working in education tech or have worked in the education industry
