Job Description - Student Wellbeing Worker (SWW) *School Terms Only* 40weeks - Growth-Minded Organization - Part-Time

We are searching for a dedicated Student Wellbeing Worker (SWW) *School Terms Only* 40weeks to join our amazing team at Nepean Community & Neighbourhood Services in Penrith, Sydney NSW.

Permanent part-time | 20 hours/week (days and hours to be negotiated) In School Term Only (ie. 40 x weeks per year).

Join us in making a tangible impact within your community. This opportunity is centered around two local primary schools located in the southern region of Penrith. The position entails diverse responsibilities tailored to each school's unique needs for a Student Wellbeing Worker. Tasks range from overseeing playground and lunchtime activities to providing support for parents/carers. This role is designed to complement the specialised social and emotional wellbeing initiatives within the school. Your involvement will extend into classrooms and playgrounds, where you'll actively contribute to fostering students' resilience and overall wellbeing. A Certificate IV in Youth Work or Community Services is essential for this position.

This role is for school terms only which works out to be 40weeks a year. Suitable for those looking for part-time work around family, study or other commitments.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

  • Cert IV Youth Work or Community Work or equivalent
  • Demonstrated understanding of student needs
  • Experience providing referrals and one-to-one assistance 
  • Current NSW Drivers License and access to a comprehensively insured vehicle
  • Working With Childrens and National Police Check.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to students where students approach the SWW
  • Respond to referrals from school staff to provide student support
  • Support whole school well-being initiatives
  • Support students in their learning and play environments
  • Conduct home visits 
  • Refer students and their families to specialist services
  • Attend relevant Interagencies and develop referral network
  • Share referral and interagency resources with school staff and community
  • Maintain a current working knowledge of issues impacting on children 
  • Engage in consultation strategies to ensure the SWW program is meeting the needs of the school community
  • To adhere to the policies and procedures of Nepean Community & Neighbourhood Services (NCNS) including Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct
  • To operate within and promote the core values in NSW Public Schools, and adhere to all school policies and procedures.
  • Undertake training as required
  • Tasks as directed by NCNS Operations Manager or School Principal
